William Heidbreder is a film critic, writer, editor, and translator (French-to-English) who lives in New York City. He holds degrees in English literature (University of California, Berkeley) and Philosophy (Sorbonne/University of Paris 4, Paris, France). For many years a lover of cinema, with a special interest in postwar European cinema (west and east), he makes a habit of seeing many films and writing about some. He is also keenly interested in contemporary French and Italian philosophy, or “theory,” with a focus on political philosophy and philosophy of art.

William is also Editor-in-Chief at Academic English Editing, a company that specializes in editing and consulting on scholarly writings for students, graduate students, and professors, as well as personal statements and applications, CVs/resumes/cover letters, business and government agency reports, web content, and other texts.
