The facts are stupid, science is about something else

Science is on the side of art and politics, not therapy and government. This is because science is not a machine for generating a set of facts that constitute knowledge. Journalism perhaps is that, and that is why it aims, through rhetoric, at conviction based on the obvious, on appeals to a common sense, which renders the democracy it facilitates consensual more than dissensual. Science is a practice of inquiry that aims at developing new theoretical models that may better explain the way some part of the world is than our present understanding does or can.
