Return of the Puritans: does the liberal-left target oppression as sin?
American left-liberalism is essentially a protestant Christian moralism, different from earlier forms of this less in the style of its claims than their objects, what it talks about and says is important to affirm and deny. Classes of persons are guilty of the moral sin of oppressing others, who in their turn are proper subjects of an endless process of liberation. Inculpations are mostly psychological, and what those attacked are guilty of is the sin of hubris or pride (now medicalized as "narcissism").
